Church tradition says it was likely held in the upper room of Mark’s mother’s house, in the upper room which much later becomes the CenacleThere is evidence the room was prepared for them and the meal made ready in advance. This is based on the account in the that states that Jesus had instructed a pair of unnamed disciples to go to 'the city' to meet 'a man carrying a jar of water', who would lead them to a house, where they would find 'a large upper room furnished and ready'.In this upper room they 'prepare the Passover'. But, in Luke 22:8, it is noted that Jesus sent Peter and John.Acts 12:12-14“When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying. Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer the door. When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!”So when Peter is “released” from jail, he goes to the Upper Room, which is the house of Mary the mother of John Mark, or the author of the Gospel of Mark. This is likely the location of the early church meetings, and it is also likely that Mary the mother of John Mark prepared the meal, perhaps with the help of the household staff. For more information on John Mark.
